Gesstwood Camp & Education Centre is a registered charity and is almost entirely supported by grants and charitable donations.
We're proud to offer memorable summers to kids and teens across Essex County and beyond. Gesstwood offers the opportunity to develop leadership and collaboration skills while having fun and trying new things.
Help Gesstwood give kids what they need - friendship, fun, and opportunities to grow.

Support a project at gesstwood
Ropes Course bridge Widening
The existing wood planks and railing on this bridge need to be replaced. The replacement deck needs to be wider to accommodate plant maintenance equipment on the other side of the stream.

new gravel parking lot
Gesstwood hosts many larger events including weddings, corporate gatherings, reunions and church services and parking is always difficult.
For one event, we hired a bus to shuttle attendees from a nearby school parking lot. We hope to construct additional gravel parking to accommodate approximately 50 cars.
pool house Repair
Gesstwood pool gives kids a place to cool off during summer camp season. The pool shed is a dilapidated block structure built into the ground with a roof that's failing.
The block walls and and the roof need attention OR the shed needs to be replaced with a completely new pool shed. Solar water heaters on the roof would be an incredible addition as well.
Campfire Bridge Repair
This bridge deck is two precast concrete slabs resting on concrete abutments. The deck and underlying abutments have shifted making a very uneven surface for people walking. The Gesstwood lawnmower can no longer use this bridge to cut the lawn around the campfire area.
Paint the cabins
Gesstwood depends on the cabins to be pleasant and inviting to the kids who camp there and others who choose to rent cabins for a week or weekend.
There are 10 cabins and several other buildings on the site and every years one or two need to be repainted.
